I Used 5 Drops of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide in Each Ear — Three Days Later, This Is What Happened

It started as a simple experiment. I kept feeling pressure in my ears, like sounds were muffled and something was stuck inside. No pain, no infection, just that constant blocked feeling that wouldn’t go away. After reading about earwax buildup, I decided to try something many people quietly do at home: 3% hydrogen peroxide, a few drops in each ear, once a day.

The first day was strange. As soon as the drops went in, I heard crackling and bubbling, like tiny fireworks inside my head. It didn’t hurt, but it definitely felt active. I lay on my side for a few minutes, then let the liquid drain out. What came with it surprised me — cloudy residue and small yellowish flakes I hadn’t expected to see.

By the second day, the pressure felt lighter. Sounds were sharper, and that full sensation wasn’t as intense. The bubbling was still there, but less dramatic, as if there was simply less buildup left to react with. Again, more residue came out, clearer this time but still visible.

On the third day, the change was impossible to ignore. My hearing felt cleaner, almost like someone had adjusted the volume of the world around me. No more fullness. No more dullness. When the peroxide drained out, there was barely anything left behind — a sign that whatever had been stuck in there was finally gone.

What actually happened was simple. Hydrogen peroxide reacts with earwax, breaking it down and loosening it so it can naturally drain out. The bubbling isn’t magic — it’s oxygen being released as the wax softens. For some people, this brings relief quickly. For others, especially those with sensitive ears or damaged eardrums, it can cause irritation if overused.

This isn’t a miracle cure, and it’s not something to do constantly. Ears are self-cleaning by nature, and too much interference can cause problems. But in cases of stubborn buildup, this method explains why so many people see dramatic results in just a few days.

Sometimes the most uncomfortable sensations have a simple explanation — and when the blockage is gone, you don’t just hear better. You feel clearer too.
