First Severe Bird Flu Case Hits the US

A patient in Louisiana has been hospitalized with the first severe case of avian influenza A(H5N1) virus (“H5N1 bird flu”) in the US

CDC confirmed the presence of the virus since back on December 13, 2024.

Here are 5 common bird flu (avian influenza) symptoms in humans:

  1. Fever (often high, over 38°C / 100.4°F)
  2. Cough
  3. Sore throat
  4. Muscle aches
  5. Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
