A guy at my old job gave me a lottery ticket. I scratched it. It looked like a $10,000 winner. Later, he stopped by and asked if I had scratched it yet, and I said no. My heart was beating like crazy.
I decided to tell him it wasn’t a winner the next time he came by. But then, I turned the ticket over to read how to redeem it — and that’s when I saw it was a prank ticket. It wasn’t real at all.
I’m really glad I caught that before he stopped by again. What a relief! That rollercoaster of emotions was definitely not worth it. Now I know to be a little more careful before getting my hopes up.
