I changed detergents, tried longer programs, even added more powder \u2014 nothing worked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then one day, I learned the shocking truth: I\u2019d been putting the detergent in the&nbsp;<em>wrong compartment<\/em>&nbsp;the entire time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most washing machines have three compartments \u2014 but almost no one knows what each one is actually for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0<strong>1. Pre-wash (I)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 This small compartment on the left is for pre-wash detergent. It\u2019s used only if you select a \u201cpre-wash\u201d cycle for heavily soiled clothes.<br>\u00a0<strong>2. Main wash (II)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 This is where your regular detergent goes \u2014 liquid or powder. This compartment does all the heavy cleaning during the main cycle.<br>\u00a0<strong>3. Fabric softener (flower icon)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 This section is for softener only. It\u2019s released automatically during the rinse cycle, right before the final spin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So if you\u2019ve been pouring your detergent into the wrong one \u2014 your clothes haven\u2019t been getting properly cleaned this whole time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that I use them correctly, the difference is unbelievable \u2014 fresh scent, softer fabric, and no detergent residue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes, the little things we overlook make the biggest difference!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For years, I couldn\u2019t understand why some of my clothes still didn\u2019t smell or feel completely clean, even after a full wash cycle.
