\u201cI need to spend all my time trying to stay alive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWill you spend this on hunting equipment?\u201d I asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAre you NUTS!\u201d replied the homeless man<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI haven\u2019t gone hunting in 20 years!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell,\u201d I said, \u201cI\u2019m not going to give you money<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Instead, I\u2019m going to take you home for a shower and a terrific dinner cooked by my wife.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The homeless man was astounded<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWon\u2019t your wife be furious with you for doing that?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I smiled and said,
\u201cDon\u2019t worry about her. She won\u2019t be mad.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Still unsure, the homeless man hesitated, then finally agreed and got into the car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the way home he asked,
\u201cSir, I have to ask\u2026 why are you doing this?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I replied,
\u201cBecause it will make my wife very happy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When we arrived, my wife saw the man, smiled warmly, and immediately started preparing a meal. After a hot shower and clean clothes, he sat at our table and ate like someone who hadn\u2019t had a real dinner in a long time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later that night, my wife pulled me aside and said,
\u201cI\u2019m so proud of you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I asked,
\u201cWhy?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She answered,
\u201cBecause I got to see what you\u2019d look like if you ever stopped taking care of yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
