A DEA officer pulled up to a quiet Texas ranch and stepped out of his SUV, sunglasses on, badge clipped proudly to his belt. He spotted an old rancher leaning against a fence, chewing on a piece of straw like he had all the time in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m with the DEA,\u201d the officer said sharply. \u201cI need to inspect your property for illegally grown drugs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rancher nodded slowly. \u201cThat\u2019s fine, son. You\u2019re welcome to look around,\u201d he said calmly. Then he pointed toward a wide, grassy field off to the side. \u201cJust don\u2019t go into that field over there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s when the officer lost his temper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDon\u2019t tell me where I can and can\u2019t go!\u201d he snapped. \u201cI have the full authority of the Federal Government behind me!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He yanked out his badge, shoved it inches from the rancher\u2019s face, and barked, \u201cSee this badge? This badge means I can go anywhere I want. Any land. Anytime. No questions. No explanations. Do you understand me?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rancher blinked, nodded politely, and said, \u201cYes sir. I understand completely.\u201d Then he tipped his hat and went back to fixing a broken fence post like nothing had happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The officer stormed straight toward the forbidden field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not thirty seconds later, the rancher heard screaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
High-pitched, desperate screaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He looked up just in time to see the DEA officer sprinting across the pasture, arms flailing, face pale as a ghost. Right behind him was the ranch\u2019s biggest bull\u2014two thousand pounds of muscle, horns down, dirt flying with every step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bull was gaining fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The officer tried zig-zagging. The bull adjusted.
He tried dropping his hat. The bull didn\u2019t care.

The bull slammed to a stop inches behind the officer, snorted, and stomped the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The officer collapsed in the dirt, shaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rancher walked over, helped him up, and said calmly,
\u201cNext time someone tells you not to go somewhere\u2026 you might wanna ask why.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The officer never asked about drugs again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
